Parenting doesn’t come with an instruction manual.

Parenting doesn’t come with an instruction manual.

Without conscious effort, our parenting methods can create conflict instead of connection. This can lead to frustration, yelling, and endless power struggles that can leave us with broken and distant relationships with our children. No parent enjoys feeling depleted and guilty at the end of the day. Whatever your relationship with your child(ren) looks like right now, there is hope.  It is never too late to turn things around.  It is possible to strengthen and repair your relationship while reducing the feelings of overwhelm and stress.   You can find more joy, peace and playfulness in your parenting.   It is possible to parent in a way that honors and aligns with your personal values while effectively teaching your children lifelong skills and self-discipline.

What is the Conscious Parenting Approach?

Conscious Parenting is a practice that helps to cultivate deeply connected relationships between parent and child.  It is an adult-led approach that emphasizes empowering and educating the parent to transform unhelpful patterns in their lives into meaningful interactions. It is a brain and body-based method that involves an understanding of the child's developmental level, nervous system regulation, brain development and emotional intelligence to build a strong foundation for increased connection, cooperation, calm and well-being.

Hello! I'm Nicole Hamed

I became a parenting and family coach because I believe in the transformative power in every person to become the best version of themselves for their children.   I am a mom of two children and my journey began many years ago when my own children were very young. Like most parents, I had many hopes and goals for the type of parent I wanted to be and discovered that the reality of parenting can make accomplishing those goals very challenging. Through this work, I discovered that the journey begins within ourselves. The more that we understand ourselves and the way we are reacting to our children, the more empowered we become to create meaningful change in ourselves and our relationships. I am deeply passionate about supporting other parents in this life-changing work.

I am a Jai Institute Certified Parent Coach and have been trained to support families in creating the peace, connection and cooperation they are looking for. I am also trained in Conscious Discipline and have spent many summers helping at learning institutes where educators, parents, social workers and school administrators gather to understand and experience the concepts and principles of using Conscious Discipline in their roles at work and in their homes.

How will parent coaching help me and my child?

The focus of a coaching relationship is to explore with curiosity and compassion the patterns and challenges that exist in your current parenting relationship.  Through this process, you will gain clarity around generational patterns, internal barriers, unconscious expectations and limiting beliefs.  You will learn a new parenting style that is rooted in neuroscience to help expand your emotional intelligence, build communication skills and develop new strategies for responding effectively to your child.   Through this new empowered lens, you are able to respond more compassionately to big emotions and challenging behaviors.  This fosters an environment ripe to develop secure, resilient, emotionally intelligent children.

Is coaching the same as therapy?

Although the coaching process can be a very therapeutic experience, it is not therapy. My job as a coach will be to support you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, to educate you on child development and to develop new strategies and skillsets. Coaches do not treat or diagnose mental illness nor do they explore in depth a client's childhood memories or trauma.  If at any point your needs surpass my capabilities as a coach, I would recommend a referral for therapeutic involvement.

"Nicole has a special combination of a deep breadth of knowledge of child development, parenting skills, social/emotional intelligence skills, relational dynamics, and empathy.  She is a rare find and a pleasure to have as a working partner."

-Cathy Moore, PCC

"Working with Nicole gave me the opportunity to dive deep into understanding my role as a parent, my relationship with my children and my own childhood.  I feel more peaceful, curious and balanced as a parent.  The relationship I share with my children is more connected and rooted in the foundation of trust and rebuilding.  I'm still learning and using the tools everyday. Nicole created a safe place to share and grow and would highly recommend working with her."

How It Works:

When you book a call with me, we will discuss what is happening for you and your family so I can get a sense of how  and where I can offer support.

I’ll explain my approach and the options we have for working together. You can ask any questions you have and see what type of support would be the best fit for your life and schedule.

If it feels right to you, we can book our first session and get started.  If it’s not a good fit, I will do my best to offer alternative resources or suggestions for support, wherever possible. There’s no pressure of any kind to commit to coaching. This call is an opportunity to see if we are a good fit to work together.

"Nicole has the knowledge and experience that provides the right blend for what is most helpful for adults raising children. What makes her most suited for this partnership, however, is her deep understanding that it is indeed a partnership for support and encouragement. She will walk beside you as you tailor the skills that work best for you and your family. Enjoy the ride together!"

-Amy Speidel, Conscious Discipline Leader Instructor

/Former Parent Coach

"Nicole is a master. Not only has she been studying this for years, she uses it daily in her own home. Nicole understands that knowing is different from doing - and uses her warm style to support people to come back to the practice, over and over, without judgement."

-Georgie Gray, MSSA, LISW-S
